Tai Ping Shan

Nestled between Soho and Sheung Wan, Tai Ping Shan is an oasis in the heart of Hong Kong, where local heritage can be found alongside contemporary life.

The area is home to a mix of shops, art galleries and restaurants that live side-by-side with some of Hong Kong’s most cherished historical landmarks, such as the Pak Sing and Kwun Yam Temples, and Earth God Shrine.

A beautifully preserved collection of tong lau – the traditional Hong Kong shop house that combines Chinese and European architectural features – is still standing along Tai Ping Shan Street and the smaller lanes nearby.

Many tong laus have been given a new lease of life, with some converted into apartments, and others into shops and restaurants. NOSH itself is housed in a restored tong lau, lending the café an authentic neighbourhood ambience.
